Daily Brief 16&17 Oct 2012

* Air Asia's deal to acquire Batavia Air were called off. Original deal USD 80 million, to acquire 49% of Batavia Air, including flight school.
- Plan on IPO of Air Asia Indonesia is still on.

* Maybank intend to be ASEAN leader. Open branch in Beijing. Operational profit reaped first in Singapore, second in India, third in China.
Another one branch will be openned in Vietnam

*Petronas (Malaysia) looking for cooperation with Oil & Natural GAs Corp Ltd (India) for exploration in third world  countries.

*Thomas mielka: By year 2020 the world need cooking oil 78 million tonnes. in Year 2012 production CPO
52  million tonnes total:- of which 26 m (Indonesia) and 18.5m (malaysia).

*US retail sales up 1.1%

KDNK Malaysia USD287.92 billion Jumlah Dagangan USD 414.7b in 2011. for 2012 up by 4.5% to 5%
